Meet the Nachle Team
Nachle team was selected by founders Sherin and Vidiya, to showcase the vibrant universal appeal of Indian dancing and impart fun, festivity and joy to any celebration. The team has many years of dance experience and shares the passion and love for Indian dancing.
Nima has been passionate about dancing from a very young age. Even without any professional training her skills are unparrallel to any trained dancers. Her understanding of rhythm and music has built her passion towards dancing and she joined Nachle Dance School as a student in 2012 and has become an essential part of the Nachle team now. Her desire and aspiration to become a versatile dancer can be seen in all her performances.
When she is not dancing with Nachle, Nima works as a nurse at the Wollongong Hospital.
Sarah began her dance journey as a young child, with ballet and jazz. She then started training in ballroom dancing for over 5 years. To add some variety, she joined belly dancing, followed by tribal fusion dancing. Sarah’s unrivaled passion for all things Indian, dance, and fitness brought her to Nachle Dacne School, joining as a student and then becoming part of the professional team in 2012. She brings in her vibrant personality to the team combined with her vast experience in different dance styles and intricate dance moves.
Sarah works in retail and her bubbly and charismatic personality is a big hit with her customers.
Sherin has over two decades of professional training in Kathak and Bollywood dancing. With her extensive training and incomparable talent, Sherin dedicates her time to choreograph and instruct dancers in the Nachle team. Sherin strongly believes that Dance is a communication between our body, soul and mind….It is a mode to express our innermost joys, sorrows or fears.
When she’s not dancing, She enjoys her time with her family; her very supportive husband and two beautiful boys together with pursuing a research career in Science.
Dance is something that has always come naturally to Vidiya. Her background in Bharathanatyam has paved to strengthen her skills and to showcase her talents to choreograph and instruct students in more modern Bollywood dancing. She teaches the Nachle kids and loves the energy and excitement they bring. She finds immense pleasure being able to teach the younger generations about the amazing culture of India through dance. When she’s not dancing with Nachle, Vidiya works as a R&D Scientist at NSW Health.
Swapna is our youngest team member and brings a versatile classical dance backgound to the Nachle team. Swapna started her dancing career at a tender age of three and has over 13 years of training in the Indian clasical dance style - Bharathanatyam and has performed in over 28 stage performances. She also has training in jazz and contemporary dance styles.
Swapna has a Masters degree in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Wollongong.
Namita is our new addition to the team and she has been a twinkle toed dancer since childhood. A bollywood fan ever since, Namita has trained in various dance forms including jazz, jive, hip hop, classical ballet and contemporary from various dancing schools in India and the UK. She brings in a twist of modern dance into traditional bollywood with ease. She was the founder of Padanyaas (Bollywood dance classes in London), bringing her radiant choreography and teaching skills to the floor.
Namita is currently pursuing a PhD degree in tourism at the University of Wollongong.
Akshata started her dance training at the age of 7 and since then never looked back. Having done her Arangetram at the age of 14, she was always known as a Bharathanatyam dancer and "the expression queen" at school. She has participated and won various dance competitions in Bollywood, classical & semi-classical dance forms up until the state level. She has also completed a course of bolly-hop from Terence Lewis Dance Academy. Her passion for dancing grows with time and and it is a source of love; love that she wishes to pass on to others around her. Akshata someday wishes to start her own dance school in India for the under-privileged children who love dancing. Akshata holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with HR as her core module from UWIC, UK. A newcomer to Wollongong and is looking for an opportunity to work in HR and an excuse to dance.
Sayantani Chatterjee is an accomplished classical dancer and teacher with all the inherent style and grace required to perform this divine art. Her journey started at the age of 3. She practiced the classical dance form, Bharathanatyam, under the guidance of Mrs Shukla Sen (MA. in dance), a renowned dancer and teacher. Rigorous practice since her childhood helped Sayantani to grasp the grace, purity, tenderness and sculpturesque poses which is vivid in her dance style. In the year 2000, she started her training in Gaudiya Nritya, which is classical dance of ancient Bengal. By profession, she is a software engineer currently associated with Pactera Technologies Australia, thus working out an even balance with her career and her passion.
Rachael (Lini) our youngest team member is only 18 year-old. She is a bubbly and vibrant individual currently studying a Bachelor of Business and Law (Human Resources) at the Australian Catholic University in Sydney. Coming from a musical background, at the age of 5, her dad inspired her to engage in learning the Violin and the Piano. Along with music, at the age of 5, she also started to learn Bharatanatyam from Guru Sashi Bala (School of Natya Dharshan, Sydney) performing at various religious and cultural programmes. She will be completing her Arangetram, which is scheduled towards the end of 2014. On the fun side of things she has always loved performing Bollywood dances for many cultural functions starting from the age of 7. Lini loves to travel, experience new cultures, spend time with her family and friends as well as have a major love for food and fishing!
